What You’ll Do
The Human Resources Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department to ensure efficient and effective administration of HR programs, policies, and processes across multiple areas of human resources. This role serves as a primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries and provides responsive, professional support to employees and people leaders. The Human Resources Generalist works collaboratively with the HR team and organizational leaders to administer HR programs, maintain compliance, support the employee experience, and advance organizational initiatives.
In this role, you will:
- Handle employment-related inquiries from employees and people leaders, maintaining strict confidentiality on sensitive matters.
- Partner with team members in the development, implementation, and delivery of HR programs including compensation, benefits, and leave; performance and talent management; employee relations; talent acquisition; occupational health and safety and employee wellbeing; and recognition and engagement.
- Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures. Maintain the employee handbook, making revisions as necessary and communicating changes to employees.
- Uphold and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Manage pay, time off, and benefits administration. Work closely with the Payroll department and our benefits provider to ensure timely and accurate processing and program implementation.
- Oversee leave of absence administration ensuring benefits, disability and leave procedures are followed.
- Maintain information in the HRIS to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Manage new hire onboarding and orientation, including coordinating activities and supporting new employee enculturation.
- Participate in the talent acquisition process including completing background checks and new hire document administration.
- Prepare and distribute standard and ad-hoc reports. Handle mandatory reports, including I-9 audits, EEO-1 filings, and other compliance reviews.
- Provide policy interpretation and guidance to employees and managers. Provide coaching on HR procedures and best practices as needed.
- Prepare HR-related documents, such as employment verification letters, disciplinary letters, and employee communications. Maintain employee personnel files.
- Organize employee events and initiatives to promote wellbeing and a positive work culture.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of progressive Human Resources experience with a strong emphasis in administration of human resources systems, programs, and processes.
- Experience administering employee benefits, compensation, and leave programs.
- Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS); experience with Paycor or a similar HRIS preferred.
- SHRM, HRCI, or other HR Certification, preferred.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of FMLA, short-term disability, long-term disability, and health and ancillary insurance programs.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Sound judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new technology and systems.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working independently.
