Duties
- Supervise daily service department operations, ensuring efficient workflow and timely vehicle turnaround.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of service technicians and advisors to deliver outstanding automotive repair and maintenance services.
- Oversee vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance procedures including oil changes, brake repairs, transmissions, suspension work, tire services, alignments, shocks & struts, air brake systems, diesel engine repairs, and auto body repairs.
- Implement upselling strategies by identifying additional services such as auto estimating, service writing, and vehicle inspections to maximize revenue while meeting customer needs.
- Ensure all service work adheres to safety standards and manufacturer specifications; maintain high-quality workmanship across all tasks.
- Manage customer interactions by providing transparent explanations of repairs, estimates, and recommended services; handle customer concerns with professionalism and enthusiasm.
- Oversee cash handling procedures and maintain accurate records of transactions; ensure compliance with dealership policies.
- Coordinate with parts departments to ensure availability of necessary components for repairs; optimize inventory management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction metrics.
Skills
- Proven dealership experience with a strong background in auto service management.
- Extensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical repair techniques, and automotive service procedures.
- Hands-on experience with a variety of vehicle systems including transmissions, oil changes, brake systems, suspensions, alignments, tire services, diesel engines, shocks & struts, air brakes, and auto body repairs.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and positively.
- Skilled in auto estimating software and service writing processes to accurately assess repair needs and generate detailed invoices.
- Demonstrated ability to upsell additional services while maintaining integrity and customer trust.
- Strong leadership qualities with experience managing technicians; ability to motivate teams toward achieving departmental goals.
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately; familiarity with dealership sales processes including automobile sales is a plus.
