Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of tax regulations and accounting principles, with experience in public accounting and corporate tax matters. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and the ability to analyze financial data effectively. The Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, and providing insights on financial planning strategies.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
- Perform account reconciliations, including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations affecting clients' financial situations.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Pro Series, or similar tools for efficient bookkeeping and reporting.
- Support non-profit organizations with their unique accounting needs including regulatory reporting.
- Occasionally assist in the preparation of State of Connecticut Sales & Use tax returns.
- Occasionally assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual payroll tax returns
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related fields.
- Proven experience in tax accounting or public accounting roles.
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts, including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and financial statement preparation.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for client interactions and report writing.
