We are seeking a Director of Infection Prevention to lead and manage the facility’s Infection Prevention (IP) and Control programs. This role ensures regulatory compliance, maintains ongoing infection prevention readiness, and promotes the highest standards of patient safety.
The Director will assess compliance with CMS requirements, state and local reporting standards, and the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) surveillance definitions. The role includes oversight of all IP surveillance activities, including data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
This position works closely with clinical teams, safety committees, and leadership to implement effective infection prevention strategies and maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
• Direct the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control programs.
• Assess and maintain regulatory compliance with CMS, CDC, NHSN, and state/local reporting agencies.
• Monitor ongoing IP readiness and ensure reporting accuracy.
• Oversee IP surveillance activities including data collection, analysis, and reporting of infection metrics.
• Identify patterns, risks, and trends related to hospital-acquired infections and develop action plans.
• Collaborate with nursing, clinical teams, and senior leadership to strengthen patient safety initiatives.
• Provide training, education, and guidance to staff on infection prevention standards.
• Develop policies, procedures, and improvement plans based on regulatory updates and best practices.
Experience Required
• Previous experience in Infection Prevention, Epidemiology, or a related field.
• Strong background working in a clinical or healthcare environment.
• Experience leading IP programs or holding a leadership role in infection control.
• Knowledge of CDC, CMS, NHSN, and state reporting guidelines.
• Ability to analyze IP data and implement strategic improvements.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
Certifications and Education
• Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, Epidemiology, Public Health, or Clinical Microbiology.
• Clinical experience in a health-related field (years as required).
• Leadership experience in Infection Prevention or Epidemiology.
• Current national certification in Infection Control (CIC).
