Luna's Early Learning Academy is a bilingual early childhood program serving children ages 0–6 years. We provide a nurturing, play-based learning environment where children are immersed in both English and Spanish through daily instruction, conversation, music, literacy, and hands-on learning experiences. Our mission is to inspire a lifelong love of learning while partnering with families to support every child's success.

We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and passionate Lead Preschool Teacher to lead one of our preschool classrooms. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated leader with excellent classroom management skills who can independently implement curriculum, create engaging learning experiences, maintain a positive classroom culture, and build meaningful relationships with children, families, and coworkers.

Schedule

• Full-Time
• Monday–Friday
• 8:00 AM–3:00 PM
• Includes a 60-minute unpaid lunch break
• Occasional staff meetings, professional development trainings, and family engagement events may be scheduled outside regular working hours with advance notice.

Essential ResponsibilitiesCurriculum & Instruction

• Follow the academy's monthly curriculum themes and implement the provided curriculum outline and weekly lesson plans.
• Independently plan, prepare, and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Incorporate both English and Spanish into daily instruction, classroom routines, songs, books, and conversations.
• Prepare learning centers and classroom materials that support the monthly curriculum and children's developmental needs.
• Adapt instruction to meet each child's individual developmental level and learning style.
• Encourage curiosity, creativity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning through play-based experiences.

Classroom Leadership

• Lead the classroom using positive guidance and effective classroom management techniques.
• Create a safe, respectful, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
• Maintain active supervision of children at all times.
• Establish consistent routines and smooth transitions throughout the day.
• Foster children's independence, confidence, and social-emotional development.
• Implement Pyramid Model strategies to promote positive behaviors and healthy relationships.

Child Development & Assessment

• Observe, document, and assess children's developmental progress.
• Maintain accurate child portfolios with work samples, observations, and developmental documentation.
• Complete developmental screenings and assessments according to academy timelines.
• Utilize assessment data to individualize instruction and support each child's growth.
• Communicate developmental concerns with administration when appropriate.

Family Communication

• Actively communicate with families through Procare by posting daily updates, photos, activities, meals, naps, and classroom experiences.
• Share meaningful observations and highlights from each child's day to keep families engaged and informed.
• Maintain accurate attendance, meal counts, incident reports, and daily documentation in Procare.
• Build strong, professional relationships with families through open, positive communication.
• Promote family engagement by celebrating children's milestones and classroom learning.

Classroom Environment

• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Complete daily cleaning and sanitizing tasks in accordance with licensing and health standards.
• Keep learning centers organized, stocked, and developmentally appropriate.
• Maintain classroom materials, toys, furniture, and supplies in excellent condition.
• Follow daily, weekly, and monthly classroom cleaning checklists.
• Encourage children to care for and respect their classroom environment.

Health & Safety

• Follow all Idaho child care licensing regulations and academy policies.
• Complete daily health and safety checks of classrooms and playgrounds.
• Maintain required classroom ratios at all times.
• Respond appropriately to illnesses, injuries, and emergencies.
• Ensure proper sign-in and sign-out procedures are followed.

Teamwork & Professionalism

• Arrive on time and maintain dependable attendance.
• Collaborate with co-teachers, administration, and support staff.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
• Support other classrooms when needed to maintain ratios and ensure smooth daily operations.
• Assist with academy events, family engagement nights, workshops, graduation ceremonies, and community events.
• Accept coaching and feedback with professionalism and a commitment to growth.
• Maintain confidentiality and represent Luna's Early Learning Academy with professionalism and integrity.

Qualifications

• Previous preschool teaching experience required.
• Lead teacher experience preferred.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education (or a closely related field) preferred. Equivalent experience in early childhood education may be considered in lieu of these credentials.
• Strong classroom management and positive behavior guidance skills.
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Ability to independently implement curriculum and manage daily classroom operations.
• Experience documenting observations, portfolios, and developmental assessments.
• Experience using Procare or willingness to learn.
• CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a bilingual or dual-language early childhood classroom.
• Knowledge of Idaho child care licensing regulations.
• Familiarity with IdahoSTARS quality standards.
• Experience implementing Pyramid Model practices.
• Experience completing developmental screenings and assessments.
