Luna Data Solutions is seeking a Junior Data Engineer for a long term contract opportunity with a State of Texas client.
Work Location – Onsite in North Austin
Long term contract (40-45 hours a week)
We are looking for an Entry to Junior level Data Engineer resource with foundational SQL and database knowledge, strong technical aptitude, and interest in cloud data platforms. While prior enterprise Snowflake experience is preferred, this role is intended to be trainable and grow into supporting internal Enterprise Data Warehouse operations long term.
Primary responsibilities would include:
- Monitoring Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines
- Basic Snowflake troubleshooting and operational support
- SQL development and query support
- Data validation and QA activities
- Dashboard/report support
- Dataset onboarding and data integration support
- Documentation of data flows, pipelines, and operational procedures
- Supporting general EDW/database administration activities
Required Experience/Skills
- Foundational SQL skills
- Foundational Python skills
- Basic understanding of ETL/data pipeline concepts
- Database administration or data warehousing coursework/experience
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to work onsite and collaborate directly with internal IT staff
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, or similar cloud data platforms would be a plus but not required
