What are the responsibilities and job description for the Piano Instructor position at Lumina Piano School?
We are currently looking for a piano teacher to start a weekday teaching schedule.
Please read more generally about the school below:
Lumina Piano School is a fast-growing private piano teaching school with a vision to offer South Brooklyn access to an affordable and high quality conservatory-style musical education. To do this, we focus on providing our faculty with the tools required to teach effectively while building the school's reputation, including providing newer instruments and more spacious rooms for private teaching, keeping a well-stocked inventory of basic teaching methods and extra-curricular materials, as well as hosting multi-annual piano recitals and studio classes. We are in a constant state of growth, and are always looking for enthusiastic and committed members to join our faculty and staff!
As we are located in a Chinese area of South Brooklyn, it is greatly preferred that the instructor can speak Mandarin.
What we offer:
- - A healthy and comfortable work environment with larger teaching rooms and new upright/baby grand pianos from the Steinway Factory and Faust Harrison (Essex, Boston, Yamaha, Kawai). All teaching rooms have a minisplit AC, dehumidifier, and air purifier for the health and comfort of teachers and students.
- - An enthusiastic team of young, energetic fellow faculty.
- - Elective faculty recitals and student recitals at professional/semi-professional venues (the school has held recitals in the past at Manhattan's Steinway Hall, Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, and the South Oxford Space Great Room).
- - School-provided lunches on longer weekend teaching days.
- - Space for career growth with shown commitment to the school and the school's reputation.
- - Clear and fair payment model between the school and faculty.
- - Compact schedules, matching teacher's preferences.
What we are looking for:
- - Dedication to teaching.
- - Enthusiasm in teacher-student interaction, and a willingness to communicate freely and readily with the school staff and fellow faculty.
- - A willingness to adapt teaching approach where necessary to conform to the school's teaching philosophy.
- - Positive and proactive attitude towards furthering the school's influence with various events (competitions, festivals, etc.).
- - Guaranteed consistent schedule with minimal rescheduling.
- - Wider timeframes/days for student scheduling, weekends especially preferred.
If you feel excited to join our team, please remit your resume and your teaching availability: we will reach out to you for an interview if your qualifications match our current needs.
