As a Non-CDL Truck Driver at our lumber yard, you will play a key role in transporting lumber and building materials to and from various locations. You will operate light to medium-duty trucks and assist with loading and unloading materials. Responsibilities
- Safely operate light to medium-duty trucks (e.g., box trucks, flatbeds) to deliver lumber and building materials to customers, construction sites, and our distribution center.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials onto trucks, ensuring proper handling and securing of the load.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company safety policies while driving.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel, and any issues encountered during transport.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and coworkers regarding delivery schedules and any special instructions.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks and keep trucks clean and organized.
- Assist with inventory management and stock organization within the lumber yard.
- Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle being driven (e.g., standard driver’s license).
- Clean driving record with no recent moving violations.
- Previous experience in truck driving or delivery roles preferred.
- Ability to safely lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks related to loading and unloading.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Experience with forklift operation or willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with lumber or building materials is advantageous.
- Knowledge of local roads and routes.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform tasks that involve bending, stooping, and climbing.
