As an Inside Sales person you will be responsible for lumber and building materials sales while being responsible for greeting and assisting customers, making them feel comfortable and ensuring that the experience they receive makes them want to return to and tell their friends about their experience.Tasks include receiving payment from customers for merchandise or service; waiting on customers, answering telephone inquiries, keeping displays well maintained, clean, organized and safe, placing orders and maintaining professional appearance at all timesInteracts in a positive, pleasant and prompt manner with customers in person and on the telephoneAccurately inputs customer transactions including quotes, purchase orders, special orders, and returns into POSAssists with questions regarding merchandise, location of merchandise in store, pricing and promotionsRefers store credit applications and bad checks to Credit DepartmentProvides the highest level possible of service to all customers with the main objective of serving our retail customersDetermines customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutionsGenerates new and repeat sales by providing product and technical information in a timely mannerRecommends items related to purchases made and/or alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications to increase customer satisfy action and improve transaction profitabilityIncreases sales and average order size by cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales and offering promotional sale itemsEducates customers about terminology, features and benefits of products in order to improve product-related sales and customer satisfactionRemains current on consumer preferences, changes in local codes and product developments by attending sales meetings, vendor training and trade shows or reading trade journalsMaintains proficiency in technology as the Company brings in the necessary tools to increase job efficiency and productivityFollows company policies and proceduresPresents a professional image at all times to customers and vendorsAttends and participates in all company-sponsored training programs as required, and seeks to learn about products and services availablePromotes team conceptRequirementsAbility to operate computer equipment, do math, read orders, follow instructions Ability to communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skillsGood interpersonal, communication, customer service skills and telephone etiquetteKnowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniquesBe aware of and follow the We Believe statements and MSDT ECET objectivesAbility to stand up to 8 hours at a timeManual dexterity and the ability to reach overhead to grasp materialsAbility to sit, climb or balance, lift, twist, and bend, stoop or squat to floor level on a repetitive basisStrength: regularly lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
