Contract Length:
Base Year: 01/01/2026 12/31/2026
Option Years: Four (4) one-year renewal options through 12/31/2030
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional IT experience in system administration, network operations, or technical support
- Experience maintaining and supporting Windows-based systems and healthcare applications, including RPMS and EHR platforms
- Proficiency in server configuration, network management, and backup/recovery operations
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance, data security, and healthcare IT protocols
- IHS will conduct a standard background check prior to onboarding
- CompTIA A , Network , or Microsoft certification preferred
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with staff and leadership
Job Description:
The IT Specialist provides comprehensive technical support, system administration, and maintenance of the Mescalero Service Unit's information systems. This position ensures the effective installation, configuration, and operation of all hardware, software, and network infrastructure in alignment with IHS standards and security protocols. The incumbent supports mission-critical healthcare systems, including RPMS and EHR platforms, to ensure uninterrupted and secure access for medical and administrative staff.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, peripherals, storage, and software in accordance with IHS operational requirements
- Monitor system integrity, security, and performance, ensuring compliance with federal and IHS standards
- Perform regular system backups, data recovery, and patch management for all server and network systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues in coordination with IHS IT personnel
- Maintain documentation for configurations, updates, and procedures to ensure continuity of operations
- Provide end-user support and conduct training sessions for staff as required
- Recommend system improvements and automation solutions to enhance performance and efficiency
- Submit bi-weekly written progress reports and weekly time documentation to the COR
- Ensure consistent communication with IHS stakeholders regarding technical status and operational needs
