Duties
- Lead the preparation and analysis of comprehensive financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring clarity and accuracy for stakeholders.
- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll processing.
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes with precision, ensuring timely completion of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements specific to non-profit or governmental accounting standards, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls where applicable.
- Supervise and develop the finance team, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous learning and professional growth.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting analysis to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Maintain robust internal controls over financial processes to safeguard assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage treasury functions such as cash management, banking relationships, and investment oversight to optimize liquidity.
- Utilize advanced spreadsheets, financial software like QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar tools for data analysis and reporting.
- Conduct detailed account analysis using Excel data analysis techniques to identify trends and variances that inform strategic planning.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader within non-profit organizations or governmental agencies is highly desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance standards, and technical accounting concepts.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing QuickBooks Online.
- Strong background in financial reporting writing coupled with experience in regulatory reporting requirements specific to non-profit or government sectors.
- Skilled in managing accounting teams with a focus on developing talent and fostering teamwork across finance functions.
- Hands-on experience with financial analysis, budgeting processes, cost accounting analysis, and forecasting techniques.
- Familiarity with international accounting standards and cross-border financial management is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in Excel data analysis tools for detailed financial review and decision support.
- Ability to ensure strict regulatory compliance while maintaining operational efficiency through effective internal controls.
