Senior Accounting Manager

Our client is a well-established, private equity-backed services company in the life safety and security space, providing solutions that protect people and property for commercial and private sector customers. The organization is in a period of investment and growth and is building out a back office functions, including finance/accounting, to support that trajectory.

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Senior Accounting Manager to modernize the systems, workflows, and data visibility of a growing accounting function. This is fundamentally a change-agent role; you will lead a team of five (AR, AP, and inventory) and you will be the one who ensures Accounting System integrity, assesses workflow and system improvements, problem solve, and provide the leadership with financial visibility needed to drive company improvements.

What You'll Do

Drive Change & Process Improvement

• Lead and support enterprise-wide finance transformation initiatives, including automation, system upgrades and process redesign.
  

• Get into the details of current processes and systems to diagnose root causes, not just symptoms, of inefficiencies.
  

• Build and execute a roadmap for improving systems, workflows, and data visibility.
  

• Collaborate with outside consulting resources engaged to support platform and systems improvements.
  

Financial Control & Audit Readiness

• Evaluate current software limitations and data health, and be an integral resource to assess future accounting tools
  

• Drive the migration of the new ERP system.
  

• Develop improved internal controls and policies
  

• Prepare the company for its first US GAAP audit.
  

Team Leadership

• Manage and develop a team of five across AR, AP, and inventory.
  

• Assess team strengths, coach for improvement, and raise the bar on accountability and performance.
  

• Monitor staff to performance outcomes.
  

• Change management and the proven ability to overcome staff resistance to new workflows.
  

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with operations and field teams to improve the flow of data into accounting.
  

• Streamline the flow of operational data into accounting.
  

• Serve as a key finance partner to the CFO.
  

What We're Looking For

Required

• A proven track record as a change agent, personally driven system, workflow, or process improvements in an accounting environment, not just maintaining the status quo.
  

• Audit Experience and proven success building audit frameworks to be GAAP complaint.
  

• Experience with ERP
  

• Experience as a strong Accounting Manager ready to step into a bigger seat, or a first-time Controller.
  

• Comfort getting into the weeds of a business system to diagnose and fix workflow issues.
  

• Business services industry experience, ideally in a high-volume, ticket- or work-order-driven service model.
  

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  

• Supervisory and/or management experience.
  

Strongly Preferred

• Experience with being part of new ERP system migration.
