Our client is looking for a bright and motivated Human Resources Business Partner to join the People & Culture – Human Resources team in New York.
Reporting to the Human Resources Director and based at the Manhattan office, The HR Business Partner (HRBP) plays a critical role in supporting the US workforce by developing and implementing HR policies, programs, and procedures aligned with legal requirements and best practices. This role serves as a strategic and tactical advisor to managers and employees based in New York as well as other US locations as required, fostering a positive work environment and driving organizational effectiveness through talent management, employee relations, and HR operations.
The HRBP position is ideal for someone seeking to build their skills for career advancement and professional growth. The ideal candidate will be familiar with relevant federal regulations, have a solid understanding of New York employment legislation, and will preferably have experience across multiple states, with at least 7-10 years of progressive HR experience as an HR Generalist.
A Day in the life of the Human Resources Business Partner
· Champion culture and provide coaching and leadership to managers as we grow and navigate change.
· Develop, implement, and revise HR policies and procedures in accordance with U.S. employment legislation and industry best practices.
· Ensure consistent and equitable interpretation and application of HR policies across the organization.
· Act as a change agent to ensure consistent messaging and integration across the organization as we grow through acquisitions.
· Partner with the Payroll Lead to ensure proper deduction setup.
· Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on all HR-related matters.
· Conduct investigations related to HR policies, health and safety, and workplace incidents.
· Advise managers on performance management processes, including annual reviews, development plans, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
· Support the HR Director in designing and executing talent management initiatives and special projects.
· Build strong relationships across U.S. and Canadian teams to ensure alignment and access to necessary tools and resources.
· Oversee employee documentation and maintain accurate HR records.
· Compile and analyze HR metrics and reports to support data-driven decision-making.
· Mentor and manage the HR Coordinator and other HR team members as the company grows.
· Facilitate employee onboarding, including documentation and coordination with Shared Services teams.
· Lead or support training sessions and rollouts of key HR initiatives in partnership with the HR Director.
· Manage all aspects of visa applications, transfers, and other legal immigration activities.
· Other job duties as assigned.
What you bring to the team
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
· 7-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a strong focus on employee relations, performance management, and policy development.
· Human Resources certification (such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR) is preferred.
· In-depth knowledge of U.S. employment law and state level requirements.
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and roll out HR initiatives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
· High emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate ambiguity with professionalism and empathy.
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and attention-to-detail skills.
· Experience in a professional services or consulting environment a definite plus
· Experience with immigration processes, including visa applications an asset
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
· Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, adequate insurance, and availability to travel for work when required. Mileage is reimbursed when a personal vehicle is used.
· Availability to work outside core business hours; overtime is a requirement of the position.
· Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, and the ability to pass a company physical.
