About this Job
LSU Health New Orleans Division of Property and Facilities is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Custodian 1 or 2 Overnight Floor Care.
This is work mainly performing floor care and maintenance duties in buildings on the Downtown Campus. May also include performing general housekeeping responsibilities.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- properly use appropriate floor care equipment as needed
- burnish or spray buff resilient tile floors to maintain a clean and shiny appearance
- strip and re-finish resilient tile floors to establish the clean and shiny appearance
- shampoo carpets
- deep scrub ceramic tile floors, tile grout and wall bases
- perform daily preventive maintenance pre-checks on equipment for safety, appropriate usage and general operating condition
- follow all established and recommended procedures for the safe and effective operation of the following equipment: backpack vacuums, wide-area vacuums, electric pressure washers, rotary floor machines, walk-behind floor burnishers, floor grout machines, wet vacuums, automatic walk-behind floor scrubbers, automatic riding floor scrubbers and canister cleaning systems
- clean all doors, door glass and door handles on both sides to remove all residue from floor care work
- clean walls to remove all residue from floor care work
- perform event set-up requests
- clean after events and reset space (as needed)
Position-Specific Details:
These positions are part of a Career Progression Group (CPG).
As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a (Custodian 1 or 2) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
Compensation: Starting rate of pay for a Custodian 1 is $10 and Custodian 2 is $10.70 per hour. There is also an additional $1 Shift Differential and Pay $1 Longevity pay for hours worked only. Rate may be increased depending on applicants’ qualifications.
