What are the responsibilities and job description for the Saw Operator position at LSI Staffing?
We have an immediate opening for a Looper Saw Operator for 1st shift. The scheduled hours are: 5:00AM to 3:00PM
The ideal candidate will be an experienced machine operator and will work with our Newton, KS manufacturing team.
OVERVIEW
- Performs basic materials handling, housekeeping and warehousing including the ability to calculate and document transactions on a daily basis.
· Fabricates long buns into rolls according to specifications.
· Conveys material from storage racks to Looper Saw.
· Counts and records information.
· Operate Looper Saw to cut 100 ft. foam buns into rolls according to orders.
· Ability to- read, write, count, and comprehend measurements, fractions and weight scales.
· Ability to comprehend and carry through both verbal and written procedures with the ability to record information accurately.
· Ability to understand LOTO (lock out - tag out) and to use LOTO effectively when necessary.
· Ability to perform physical labor- involving heavy work, exerting in excess up to 150 pounds of force occasionally.
· Maintain work area, in a safe manner.
· Must be able to transfer information from cutting schedule to Looper Cutting Report effectively.
· Ability to transfer information from long bun to Looper Cutting Report, then to computer in order to create accurate barcode labels.
· Operator must be able to accurately measure thickness (using tape) and length (using audit wheel) of quilt rolls.
· At end of shift, match Looper Cutting Report to production report to ensure exact quantities of rolls were cut and labeled.
· All unused labels need deleted at end of shift.
· Work area must be cleaned and free of scrap foam prior to leaving at end of shift.
