What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Operator I position at LSC Environmental Products, LLC.?
POSITION SUMMARY
The Process Operator I is a critical role in LSC Environmental's manufacturing operation for 1st or 2nd shift. The Process Operator I is responsible for operating automated equipment and systems used to manufacture LSC's line of environmental products including spray-applied landfill cover systems, erosion control coatings, vegetation products, and dust suppression solutions. The right candidate comes from a background in chemical processing, water treatment, industrial manufacturing, or a similar environment where process discipline, mechanical intuition, and safety behavior were non-negotiable. We are building operators who understand what should be happening and notice when it isn't — before something goes wrong.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Monitor process parameters — flow rates, pressures, temperatures, mix ratios — and identify deviations early
- Perform pre-shift equipment inspections and complete all required documentation accurately
- Execute product changeovers, equipment cleanouts, and startup/shutdown procedures correctly every time
- Maintain batch records, production logs, and quality data with precision
- Identify and communicate process abnormalities to the Team Lead before they become failures
- Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements without exception — stop work when something feels wrong
- Participate in cross-training across multiple production lines to build operational versatility
- Support continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and suggesting solutions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment at all times
- Actively mentor Material Handlers by modeling the right behaviors and process discipline
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in industrial technology, process technology, or related field preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in a process-oriented manufacturing environment — chemical processing, water/wastewater treatment, food & beverage (high automation), oil & gas, power generation, or paper/pulp operations strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to operate, monitor, and perform basic troubleshooting on automated industrial equipment
- Mechanical aptitude — understanding of cause-and-effect relationships in process systems
- Ability to read and interpret process documentation, SOPs, batch records, and basic instrument readings
- Basic data fluency — comfortable reading dashboards, trending data, and production metrics
- Proven safety-first behavior — not just compliance, but genuine awareness and accountability
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision once trained and qualified
- Physical ability to work in a manufacturing environment including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in varying temperature conditions
- Forklift certification preferred
