LRT Solutions is seeking an experienced LTL Operations Supervisor to support the continued 

growth of our national Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) division. This is an outstanding opportunity 

for an experienced LTL professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys coaching 

and developing others, and wants to play a key role in building a best-in-class LTL operation.

This is a remote position. Candidates must reside in or near [Texas Region] to maintain strong 

local carrier relationships and support regional customer and business development efforts. 

This position reports directly to Ken Leadford, Director of LTL Strategies & Operations. 

The LTL Operations Supervisor will oversee the daily execution of our LTL operations while 

supporting a growing operations team. This role focuses on operational excellence, customer 

satisfaction, process consistency, employee development, and ensuring every shipment is 

handled accurately from quote through final delivery.

Position Summary 

The LTL Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the 

LTL operations team while ensuring operational standards, customer expectations, and company 

performance metrics are consistently achieved.

This individual will provide guidance to team members, assist with complex customer situations, 

monitor shipment execution, maintain strong carrier relationships, and identify opportunities to 

improve efficiency, profitability, and customer service. 

Primary Responsibilities

Team Leadership

• Supervise the daily activities of the LTL Operations team.

• Coach, mentor, and support team members to ensure consistent execution. 

• Assist with onboarding and training of new employees. 

• Monitor workload distribution and operational productivity. 

• Promote a collaborative, customer-first culture.

Daily Operations 

• Oversee daily LTL quoting, dispatching, routing, tracking, pickup scheduling, delivery 

coordination, billing review, and shipment completion. 

• Ensure customer requests are responded to accurately and within expected service levels.

• Monitor shipment exceptions and proactively resolve service issues. 

• Review shipment profitability while balancing customer service expectations. 

• Support the team in resolving escalated customer and carrier issues.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure company operating procedures and best practices are consistently followed. 

• Review freight profiles and recommend the most appropriate transportation solution. 

• Assist with implementation of operational improvements and process enhancements. 

• Monitor customer KPIs and service performance. 

• Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the LTL department. 

Carrier & Customer Relationships

• Build and maintain strong relationships with LTL clients, particularly within the central 

and west coast time zones. 

• Assist sales and operations teams with LTL transportation solutions for customers. 

• Educate customers and internal teams on LTL best practices.

• Support strategic customer implementations and onboarding. 

Technical Knowledge

Candidates should possess a strong understanding of: 

• NMFC classifications

• Freight classes

• Density calculations

• Cubic capacity

• Linear footage

• CZARLITE and carrier base rates

• CWT pricing

• General Rate Increases (GRIs)

• Fuel surcharge programs

• Freight liability

• Hazmat restrictions

• Accessorial charges

• FAK programs

• Carrier pricing structures

• Billing reconciliation

• Claims management

General Responsibilities

• Resolve delivery exceptions and service failures.

• Monitor shipment visibility and customer communication. 

• Review operational KPIs and identify improvement opportunities. 

• Analyze shipment profitability and operational efficiency. 

• Ensure accurate shipment documentation and billing. 

• Support transportation contingency planning. 

• Identify opportunities to improve carrier performance and routing. 

• Collaborate closely with Sales, Pricing, Carrier Procurement, and Leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of transportation or LTL operations experience. 

• Prior experience supervising or leading an operations team preferred. 

• Strong understanding of LTL carrier operations and pricing. 

• Experience with transportation management systems (TMS). 

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

• Comfortable working independently in a remote, distributed team environment. 

• Reliable home office setup with high-speed internet.

• Microsoft Office proficiency.

• Bachelor's Degree preferred.

• Valid driver's license.
