What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surveillance Operator position at Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe?
Overview: The Surveillance Operator monitors, detects, verifies, and reports gaming violations and other unwanted activity at the gaming facility to protect the Tribes’ assets, reputation, standards, and to ensure compliance with Federal and Tribal laws, rules, regulations, and provisions contained within the Tribal – State Compact.

LOCATION: Lower Elwha River Casino
FULL-TIME & PART-TIME: Full-Time (30-40hrs per week) Part-Time (29 hours or less per week)
WORK HOURS: Night Shift and Weekends: 1530-0430 (Monday-Sunday available)
Basic Functions of the job:
• Understand implications of, and apply, Federal, State, and Tribal gaming rules and regulations
• Observe all gaming activities to ensure all rules and regulations are followed
• Operate and manage a CCTV and software system by observing live video feed, review recorded footage, and saving/exporting video footage
• Maintain detailed logs and incident reports of daily regulated activities, suspicious activity/incidents, medical incidents throughout the casino property
• Verify cash transactions, verify Jackpot wins, verify manual hand pays, verify staff bank tills to ensure accuracy
• Conduct communication as a dispatcher by transmitting and receiving radio communications and phone calls to and from all departments
• Safeguards patrons, staff and the facility by recognizing and reporting potential or existing safety hazards, internal and external threats
• Work in conjunction with Law Enforcement during an investigation and may be required to testify before the Commission and/or a court of jurisdiction
• Identify any barred/excluded guests that enter the Casino Property
• Verify paperwork used by the gaming operation for daily procedures/transactions
• Observe and monitor alcohol sales/bar activity to ensure the safety of guests and staff
• Perform required regulatory escorts throughout the casino property and necessary escorts off-site.
• Performs other duties throughout the department as assigned by the Department Supervisor, Manager or Director
• Attend meetings, training or other proceedings as designated by the TGA Supervisor or Director
Desired Qualifications:
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D
• Must pass a credit and criminal background check and suitable to hold a gaming license under tribal, state and federal requirements
• Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License
• Must have UA testing prior to employment
• Must have knowledge and ability in the use of office equipment (i.e.-computers, copiers, 10-keys etc.), Microsoft Office programs
• 12 months’ experience in the Casino industry and/or Regulatory Agency
• Knowledge and experience in conducting financial investigations, including fraud, record searching, and criminal investigations
• Knowledge of Class II gaming regulations and rules as applicable per the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC), the Tribal-State Compact, the Lower Elwha Gaming Commission, and the Internal Controls of Casino Operations
• Excellent knowledge in the operation and maintenance of digital surveillance systems
• Must have strong mathematical and accounting abilities for computing and verifying daily cash transactions.
• Must have excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking skills, and investigative reporting skills
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, rotating shift schedules, and any shift assigned
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time (up to 10hrs a day)
• Must be able to observe CCTV monitors and computers for extended periods of time
• Must be able to tolerate a smoking environment
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 10-40lbs
• Must have manual and hand dexterity for equipment operations
Special Conditions of Employment:
• Employee shall disclose the names of all Gaming Operation or Commission employees who are close relatives (parent, child, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, and spouse) and any other person residing in the same household, including significant other
• Commission employees are prohibited from participating as a player in any gaming activities conducted by the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe
