Job Description
Position: Technology Specialist II
General Job Description: To serve as a Technology Department Technology Specialist II for the Lovington Municipal School District.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators.
- Comply with all school board policies and regulations.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior.
- Maintain behavior appropriate to performing and accomplishing assigned duties.
- Know what to do to successfully complete assigned work.
- Project an overall concern for personal appearance as it relates to job performance.
- Carry out assignments and instructions from the supervisor in a competent and efficient manner.
- Perform assignments in such a manner so as not to interrupt the classroom learning environment.
- Work in a safe manner with personal safety and the safety of others as the number one priority.
- Lead in the installation and maintenance of computer labs.
- Lead in the installation of district-adopted software.
- Lead in meeting the goals of the district’s Technology Plan.
- Install and maintain equipment related to the job.
- Pick up and deliver various technology-related items.
- Contact vendors for information.
- Repair equipment that may not be covered by another service agreement.
- Lead in the support of district technology systems.
- Serve as site liaison for technology assistance.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Other tasks as may be deemed appropriate and necessary by the immediate supervisor and/or Superintendent.
- Engage in self-development.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related field, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or one industry certification (Cisco, Microsoft, VMWare)
- Three years of experience, two years of experience must be with the Lovington Schools Technology Department
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Must demonstrate a working knowledge of computer systems.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing, kneeling, fingering or otherwise working with fingers, moving light furniture, and moving equipment are required.
Safety and Health:
Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
Equipment/Material Handled:
Must know how to properly operate, or be willing to learn to operate, all multimedia equipment, including current technology.
Work Environment:
Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Job responsibilities include both inside and outside duties. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments. Regular visits to schools are required for maintenance and/or installation purposes. After hours’ work may be required. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
Terms of Employment:
Technology Salary Schedule, Level III
Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
