What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Fence & Railing Installation Technician/Foreman position at Lovewell Fencing, Inc.?
Commercial Fence & Railing Installation Technician/Foreman
$24–$30/Hour Starting Pay | Overtime | Employee Ownership | Fast-Track Growth to Foreman
Build a skilled trade. Build a career. Build something you can point to.
Lovewell Fencing is looking for motivated construction professionals who want more than another laborer job.
As a Commercial Fence & Railing Installation Technician, you’ll work on large multi-family and commercial construction projects installing architectural fence, railing, gates, and related systems. You'll develop specialized installation skills, learn to read plans and layouts, work with commercial construction teams, and take on greater responsibility as your experience grows.
This is a career-track position.
We are looking for people who want to become highly skilled at their trade, earn more as their abilities grow, and eventually lead projects and crews.
For our most qualified and driven employees, advancement into a Foreman position can happen within approximately 12–18 months.
This Is More Than a Laborer Position
Yes, you'll work with your hands. You'll work outside. You'll lift material, operate tools, and put in real construction days.
But you'll also be learning a specialized trade.
Our Commercial Fence & Railing Installation Technicians develop experience in areas such as:
- Commercial fence and railing systems
- Architectural and ornamental railing
- Layout, elevations, measurements, and installation tolerances
- Reading construction plans and project drawings
- Concrete drilling, anchoring, and fastening systems
- Power tools and specialized installation equipment
- Jobsite coordination with general contractors and other trades
- Quality control and project completion
- Crew leadership and jobsite organization
As your skills increase, your responsibilities can increase. And as your responsibilities increase, so can your pay.
Where Can This Career Go?
We don't want good employees doing the same thing five years from now that they were doing on their first day.
A motivated employee can progress from:
Installation Technician → Experienced/Specialized Installer → Lead Installer → Foreman
From there, additional opportunities can develop based on your abilities, leadership skills, and the needs of the company.
Some people become exceptional installers and technical specialists. Others become crew leaders and Foremen. The best employees learn how to understand an entire project—not just the task immediately in front of them.
The more you can do, the more valuable you become.
For candidates who already have strong construction experience and demonstrate the ability to learn, lead, and take responsibility, Foreman opportunities may be available within 12–18 months.
What You'll Earn
Starting pay: $24.00–$30.00 per hour, based on your construction experience and capabilities.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position, and overtime during the construction season should be expected.
But your starting wage doesn't have to define where you stay.
We believe increased skill, responsibility, productivity, and leadership should create opportunities for increased compensation and advancement.
We are looking for employees who want to earn their way into bigger roles.
We're 100% Employee Owned
Here's another reason this isn't just another construction job:
Lovewell Fencing is 100% employee owned.
Through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), eligible employees have the opportunity to build retirement wealth through ownership in the company.
You can build your skills.
You can build your paycheck.
You can build your career.
And you can build ownership in the company you're helping succeed.
Additional benefits include:
- Company-sponsored health insurance
- Paid vacation
- Paid holidays
- Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
- Overtime opportunities
- Training and development
- Advancement opportunities
- Career paths into leadership and specialized installation work
Who We're Looking For
This position is a good fit for someone with experience in construction, carpentry, installation, concrete, steel erection, fabrication, landscaping/hardscaping, or another hands-on trade.
You don't need to already be a fence expert.
We can teach fence and railing installation. We can't teach someone to care about doing a good job.
We're looking for people who:
- Have previous construction or skilled-trade experience
- Are comfortable using hand and power tools
- Have basic carpentry, measurement, and layout skills
- Can learn new installation methods and systems
- Take pride in accurate, finished work
- Show up consistently and on time
- Can follow plans and instructions
- Can work independently as their experience grows
- Want to learn more and take on additional responsibility
- Have the potential and desire to eventually lead others
- Are willing to work outdoors year-round
- Can safely lift up to 100 lbs. and lift 30 lbs. overhead
Most importantly, we're looking for people who want to get better at what they do.
Travel Is Part of the Career
Our commercial crews go where the projects are.
Monday-through-Friday travel, including overnight stays, is required, although the amount of travel varies based on project locations.
This position is especially well suited for someone who wants to work on larger commercial and multi-family projects, gain experience on different jobsites, and build a broader construction skill set.
A Job You Can Turn Into a Career
There are plenty of jobs where you can show up, put in eight hours, and be in essentially the same position several years later.
That's not what we're trying to build.
We're looking for people who want to become professionals at what they do.
Learn the trade.
Master the installations.
Learn the drawings.
Learn the projects.
Take responsibility.
Lead other people.
The opportunity is there. What you do with it is up to you.
