Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing symptoms, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control standards are upheld.
- Provide emotional support through active communication, companionship, and engagement in activities suited to each resident’s interests.
- Assist with transportation for appointments or community outings using personal transportation assistance or client vehicles.
Skills
- Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in condition or behavior related to dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorder, or other neurodevelopmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of care plans, medication administration protocols, and patient monitoring techniques.
- Ability to perform CPR and First Aid confidently; certification preferred but not required upon hire.
- Experience with specialized care such as hospice care, memory care, or geriatrics is advantageous.
- Familiarity with equipment like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods ensures safe handling during mobility assistance.
- Excellent client communication skills combined with compassionate caregiving approach that respects each individual’s dignity and preferences.
