What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation Controls Supervisor / Grade 21 position at Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District?
Supervises the Automation Controls Specialists and Industrial Controls Technicians. Provides support to the engineering division for the automation of capital projects including Real Time Control, wet weather and Consent Decree projects. Maintains the controls network including SCADA and remote telemetry for all 370 pump stations, regional facilities, flood pump stations, CSO's, and RTC.
Supervises the Automation Controls Specialists and Industrial Controls Technicians. Provides system integration functions related to district-wide automation projects. Researches equipment instrumentation options for capital projects. Develops equipment specifications for capital improvements. Reviews and revises contract bid documents, plans, schematics, specifications and provides feedback for all areas of the MSD collection system, regional facilities, flood pump stations, and rain gauges. Initiates procurement for equipment, training and services required by the Automation group. Coordinates and tracks assignments of staff within the Hansen and SAP work order systems.
Knowledge of electronic equipment, local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN) (fiber, wireless and Ethernet), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming; knowledge of computers, SCADA, instrumentation and automation; knowledge of MSD and ISA design standards; knowledge of State/EPA reporting and permit guidelines; knowledge of NEC electrical code and vendor related specifications; skill in oral and written communication; skill in operating a PC and associated Windows environment software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, etc.); skill in utilizing AutoCAD; skill in managing multiple priorities; ability to integrate the automation control network to the business network (Telog, Egis, rain gauge tracker); ability to develop the graphics for Webspace for remote viewing capability; ability to supervise a diverse workforce; ability to utilize Hansen, SAP, Outlook, and WorkForce; ability to adapt to a changing work environment; ability to exercise judgment and discretion; ability to read electrical drawings, P&ID and instrument loop diagrams; ability to resolve problems; ability to be courteous and helpful under pressure; ability to work effectively under heavy, unpredictable surges in workload and deadline pressure; ability to work 24 hour emergency response, various shifts, weekends.
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related field; five or more years of related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must be ISA certified or able to obtain it within 12 months of eligibility. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have safe work and driving habits. Must have an acceptable and reliable means of being contacted during off-duty hours.
This position is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to random drug testing.
