Role Description
We are looking for a driven, entrepreneurial-minded Controls Engineer who takes pride in their work. In this role, you will be involved in on-site integration and field commissioning, getting control programs, custom machinery/robotics, and multi-platform PLCs to communicate seamlessly with clients' systems. Duties
- On-Site Integration & Service: Deliver fully functional, debugged control systems and robotics on client sites within project timelines; handle hands-on integration, program modifications, sequence tuning, and field service.
- Multi-Platform Control Logic: Build, develop, and troubleshoot PLC/HMI programs across Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, and Mitsubishi platforms.
- Robotics & Motion Integration: Implement, program, and tune 6-axis and industrial robot applications alongside custom end-of-arm tooling and material handling systems.
- Field Diagnostics: Troubleshoot industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET), drive communications/VFDs, safety circuits, and physical hardware efficiently on-site.
- Client Account Ownership: Communicate clearly with project stakeholders, adapt to unexpected client needs on the fly, and represent ProConcepts professionally on every job site.
- Operational Versatility: Pitch in wherever needed to support company growth, shop workflow, and project delivery (including, but not limited to, parts run/material pickup, CNC operations, panel wiring, and facility upkeep).
Qualifications
- Experience: Background in controls engineering, system integration, or custom machine building.
- PLC Proficiency: Fluent with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, or Mitsubishi PLCs. Experience with HMI development, integration of industrial networks, and motion control systems (including servo drives, VFDs, and coordinated multi-axis motion).
- Robotics Experience: Hands-on integration and troubleshooting with industrial robot platforms (FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, Epson, etc.).
- Mindset & Skills: Strong self-direction, high accountability, advanced problem-solving/troubleshooting skills (for diagnosing and resolving electrical, control, and automation system issues). Ability to read and create electrical schematics and documentation using industry-standard software tools. Familiarity with industrial safety standards and best practices for machine safeguarding and control system design.
- Travel: Willingness and ability to travel regionally for installations and integration projects.
