- Installs, operates, maintains and repairs communications systems and other electronic equipment
- Maintains records of work performed and track inventory used
- Trains Radio Technician Apprentices
- Operates a variety of test equipment to install, remove, and repair communication and emergency equipment
- Develops and maintains a computer-based radio programming workstation for portable and mobile radios
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs malfunctions in complex radio and communications systems, digital control systems and other electronic equipment used by Metro agencies
- Studies and develops new methods for installing safety equipment in various Metro agency vehicles
- Uses schematics and technical data to ensure proper installation and operation of emergency equipment
- Installs, removes, and repairs communication and emergency equipment for various Metro agencies
- Performs related work
- Associates degree in Electronics or a related field
- One year of experience working in the wireless communications or electronics field, preferably in a two-way service shop environment involving repair and installation
Other Minimums:
- Must be of good moral character, with no criminal or felony record inconsistent with the provisions of this paragraph. Unacceptable will be persons who have been convicted of a felony, or who have any criminal action pending against them
- Applicants who have bought or sold marijuana within one year of application, or have bought or sold any controlled substance or narcotic drug without a prescription within six years of application will be disqualified
- Misdemeanor convictions will be considered on an individual basis. An applicant may be disqualified for multiple misdemeanors, an unacceptable criminal record, or multiple traffic violations.
- Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
