Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute daily, weekly, and monthly activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Develop and maintain an activity calendar that includes recreational, educational, and therapeutic programs.
- Lead group and one-on-one activities, ensuring resident engagement and participation.
- Coordinate with external organizations, volunteers, and community groups to enhance program offerings.
- Ensure all activities align with state and federal regulations for long-term care facilities.
- Maintain activity supply inventory and budget effectively.
- Monitor and document resident participation and feedback to continuously improve programming.
- Collaborate with nursing and support staff to ensure holistic resident care.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Recreational Therapy, Gerontology, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification as an Activities Director (e.g., NCCAP) or willingness to obtain certification.
- Previous experience in an activities or recreation role, preferably in a senior living or healthcare setting.
- CNA certification preferred. Required to obtain within the first year of employment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with activity planning software is a plus.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and be physically active as needed for activities.
