This Student Worker position will serve as an administrative and clerical support for the Baton Rouge Regional Office. The student worker should be proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook, as well as having strong communication, organization, and time management abilities. The student will assist the Regional Office with responsibilities including but not limited to answering and routing phone calls, greeting customer walk ins, taking Vocational Rehabilitation Referrals, processing mail, scanning documents and record keeping as necessary, provide good customer service when interacting with customers, assisting staff when needed, and miscellaneous other projects as assigned.
The Office of Workforce Development (OWD) is a key division of Louisiana Works; managing programs in workforce training, job placement, apprenticeships, and business engagement. Through collaboration with local boards, educational institutions, and industry partners, OWD aims to improve economic mobility for job seekers and ensure Louisiana employers have the skilled talent they need, contributing to the state’s economic growth.
Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS) assists persons with disabilities in their desire to obtain, maintain, or advance in competitive integrated employment and achieve independence in their communities by providing rehabilitation services and working cooperatively with businesses and other community resources.
Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Answering, responding to, and routing phone calls
- Taking Vocational Rehabilitation referrals.
- Processing Mail
- Scanning documents and record keeping
- Greeting Customer Walk-Ins
- Providing excellent customer service when interacting with customers
- Assisting Supervisors, Rehabilitation Counselors and Rehabilitation Counselor Associates as needed
- Other duties or projects as assigned.
