Position Summary

The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer plays a key role in developing, implementing, and

maintaining BI solutions that support business objectives. This position collaborates with the BI team

and business stakeholders to translate requirements into functional reports, dashboards, and data

solutions. The BI Developer focuses on hands-on development in SQL and Power BI, providing

ongoing technical support for BI systems, fulfilling helpdesk requests and ad-hoc data inquiries to

ensure the agency has timely and accurate information.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, test, and deploy end-to-end BI solutions, including reports and dashboards, using tools such as Power BI
  • Write, optimize, and maintain queries, stored procedure and functions for data extraction, transformation, and manipulation
  • Build semantic models and write DAX measures for report development
  • Create visualizations to stakeholder specifications using bar charts, time-series graphs, custom buttons/filters, etc.
  • Respond to and resolve BI-related helpdesk requests in a timely manner
  • Fulfill ad-hoc data requests for business stakeholders
  • Support the installation, deployment, and population of databases
  • Perform routine database and BI system maintenance, including applying upgrades and fixes.
  • Assist in the implementation of maintenance plans and integrity checks
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for new and existing BI solutions
  • Assist in training users in the startup and basic use of database systems and reports
  • Work with the BI team to validate data models and ensure data quality and integrity in developed solutions
  • Evaluate legacy reporting systems for updating to current business definitions and migration to Power BI

Work Environment

  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, airborne illnesses, hazardous materials, pharmacological agents with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed.
  • May, at times, have exposure to blood, packaged organs and tissues for transplant and/or research in a hospital setting or while in the office.
  • Possible mental and visual fatigue associated with detailed work.
  • This position requires travel, as needed.

  • Frequently doing work that requires visual acuity and the use of fine motor skills.
  • Need for the ability to hear.
Requirements:

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college university in STEM or Business with five to seven

years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and

experience commensurate with the requirements for the position. Proficiency in data modeling,

report/dashboard design, SQL database administration and query optimization.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex data and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and compute data.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Thorough knowledge of software, BI and database systems.
