What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Medical Assistant position at Louisiana Internal Medicine & Pediatric Associates?
Louisiana Internal Medicine & Pediatric Associates (LIMPA) is seeking two (2) experienced Certified Medical Assistants (CMA’s) to join our team, working hand-in-hand with our providers, ensuring the orderly and timely flow of clinical operations and providing the administrative support necessary for the delivery of excellent healthcare to our patients.
As part of our team, you will, among other duties:
- · Prepare exam rooms for patients, sterilize instruments
- · Check schedules and organize patient flow between providers rooms, in-office lab, and x-ray
- · Pull back and work-up patients for their provider visit, ensuring the orderly and timely flow of patient care
- · Triage patients, take vital signs, complete the review of systems and medications, update EMR’s
- · Collect specimens, administer injections, change dressings
- · Enter prescriptions and lab orders per the provider’s instructions
- · Explain treatment plans, prepare patients for tests and procedures, assist in procedures
- · Schedule appointments and lab tests, answer phones, complete medical forms, communicate with outside providers in furtherance of patient care
Qualifications
As a LIMPA Certified Medical Assistant, you must have the following abilities:
- · Communicate calmly, clearly, and effectively with patients and fellow team members
- · Learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures as taught by providers
- · Project a pleasant and professional image at all times
- · Plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks accurately and efficiently
- · Demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others
- · Work with computers and effectively use electronic medical records (EMR’s)—experience with EPIC a plus!!!
- · Work under pressure
- · Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA
As our new team member, you must also possess the following skills:
- · Good interpersonal skills (use tact and diplomacy)
- · Excellent verbal, written and reading comprehension skills
- · Strong organizational skills (detail-oriented)
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (GED), medical assisting diploma from an accredited vocational institution, current CERTIIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT (CMA) CERTIFICATION REQUIRED.
Experience/ Other Requirements
A minimum of two (2) years previous experience in a medical office as a CMA. CPR certification required. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medical office protocols/ procedures a must. Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families a must.
