What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chef Instructor position at Louisiana Culinary Institute?
Duties and Responsibilities
- Effectively teach prescribed coursework within the culinary arts program to students, using a variety of teaching methods that encourage active involvement/participation by the students, even in a lecture class.
- Show evidence of planning for classes to be taught, including care in preparation of teaching materials and handouts.
- Provide reflective and conscientious feedback on students' work. Maintain office hours each week and regularly participate in after-school activities, including competitions.
- Advise students throughout the school year.
- Participate in the admissions process through the evaluation of potential students.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local food service employers and vendors.
- Regularly participate in continuing education activities, including maintaining and acquiring certifications.
- Promote high standards of ethical and professional conduct. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties, as assigned.
Requirements/Preferences
- Preference given to CEPC/CEC/CCE certification through the ACF and/or teaching experience.
- Must minimally possess an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts or Baking and Pastry from an accredited institution.
- Must minimally posses five (5) years of post-graduate experience as a supervisor in the culinary arts field.
- Must demonstrate competency in the field through a modified practical.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $44,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
