Responsibilities
Commissioning Leadership
- Lead day-to-day commissioning activities for I&C and LSS systems across assigned project scopes.
- Manage commissioning teams (self-perform and third-party) to ensure completion of testing, verification, and documentation.
- Coordinate system turnover, isolation, and lock-out/tag-out requirements with operations and construction.
- Schedule, plan, and track commissioning milestones to meet project deadlines.
- Interpret P&IDs, control logic, wiring diagrams, and sequence of operations for all I&C and LSS equipment.
- Verify proper installation of instrumentation, panels, communication wiring, and sensors prior to testing.
- Perform functional testing on PLCs, SCADA/BMS systems, alarms, interlocks, and safety circuits.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for control loops, instrumentation faults, communication failures, and system logic issues.
- Validate system performance against design specifications, client requirements, and operational standards.
- Complete commissioning documentation, including pre-functional checklists (PFCs), functional test procedures (FTPs), and punch lists.
- Track and escalate issues through commissioning software and ensure timely close-out of deficiencies.
- Generate daily/weekly progress reports for internal and client review.
- Participate in turnover meetings and ensure all commissioning documentation is accepted by the client.
- Work closely with Construction Managers, Project Managers, Engineering, Facilities Operations, and Safety teams.
- Participate in design reviews, startup coordination meetings, and system readiness reviews.
- Communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of instrumentation, controls, PLC systems, BMS/SCADA platforms, and communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
- Experience commissioning fire alarm systems, gas detection systems, exhaust/interlock controls, and other LSS subsystems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documents: P&IDs, wiring diagrams, IO lists, sequence of operations, and one-line drawings.
- Hands-on troubleshooting of sensors, transmitters, VFDs, control valves, and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with semiconductor facility systems (LIWS, UPW, HVAC, Process Gases, Waste Systems, etc.) preferred.
- Proven experience leading teams in a commissioning or construction environment.
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills to track multi-system commissioning activities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to escalate issues appropriately.
- Ability to work in fast-paced construction environments and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Strong safety mindset and experience working under strict LOTO, hazardous energy, and high-voltage protocols.
- Associate’s degree or higher in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related technical field preferred.
- 5 years experience in I&C, LSS, or Controls commissioning required (semiconductor commissioning experience a plus).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (required or willing to obtain).
- NFPA 70E certification preferred.
- NICET LSS / Fire Alarm certification highly desirable.
- Control system certifications (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Honeywell, DeltaV, etc.) are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.
