We are currently seeking an experienced Controller to oversee our financial operations and support strategic growth initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on finance professional to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic architecture firm.
Role Overview
The Controller will manage all aspects of the firm’s financial operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and insightful reporting. This position works closely with Principals, Project Managers, and external partners to maintain financial health, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting operations: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings; prepare financial statements and reports.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, budgets, revenue forecasts, and project-based financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support project budgeting, job-cost tracking, and billing alongside project teams.
- Administer and optimize the firm’s accounting/ERP system.
- Coordinate with external financial partners, including CPAs, auditors, and banks.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to leadership regarding financial performance and risk management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience, ideally in architecture, engineering, construction, or professional services.
- Strong understanding of project-based accounting, WIP, and billing structures.
- Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks).
- Experience with Unanet/Infocus, Deltek Vision or similar is helpful.
- Advanced Excel and strong financial analysis skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
