Full Job Description
The Staff Accountant is responsible for day-to-day financial tasks including handling accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and preparing basic financial reports. This position also assists with month-end and year-end closings to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and follow company policies. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, solid organizational skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Key duties include maintaining precise financial records, assisting with payroll, and responding to questions from both vendors and staff. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, proficiency in accounting software, and a desire to learn and grow professionally.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
· Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
· Skilled in accounting software and Excel
· QuickBooks proficiency with 2 years of experience with QuickBooks Online
· Detail-oriented and organized
· Strong communication skills
· Able to work both independently and as part of a team
· Open to learning and new responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications:
· Internship or work experience in accounting/finance
· Month-end close experience with 2 years or more of hands-on experience supporting or managing month-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
· ADP payroll familiarity
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Strong technical aptitude with ability to learn new financial software platforms quickly; experience with cloud-based accounting systems and workflow automation tools is a plus
· Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
· CPA/CMA certification or progress preferred
Responsibilities:
· Review, prepare, and analyze financial statements to confirm their accuracy and ensure they meet relevant regulations.
· Oversee accounts payable and receivable by handling invoices, payments, and reconciling transactions.
· Help with payroll processing and keep precise payroll records updated.
· Input and manage financial data using accounting tools like QuickBooks.
· Aid in budgeting and forecasting by gathering and arranging pertinent financial details.
· Take part in audits and assist in compiling required documents for both internal and external examinations.
· Detect inconsistencies and improvement opportunities in current accounting practices, recommending ways to boost efficiency.
· Make certain that every financial transaction complies with applicable laws and company rules.
· Work closely with colleagues on different assignments, delivering prompt and accurate financial analysis.
· Safeguard confidential financial information at all times.
