Position Description
The Physicians Assistant will be responsible for educating patients about chemotherapy side effects, perform initial examinations construct comprehensive medical histories and develop and implement treatment plans under the direct supervision of a physician.
Key Functions & Responsibilities
- Identify and treat patients’ diseases
- Perform initial and periodic physical examinations and explore patient’s interpretation of health needs
- Conduct in-depth interviews with patients and/or family.
- Construct comprehensive medical histories
- Instruct and counsel patients and families regarding preventative care, medical problems, psychological problems, and use prescribed treatments and drugs
- Develop and implement long and short range treatment plans
- Directly perform or order appropriate diagnostic studies and interpret finished results
- Write orders to increase, decrease or change medication, subject to checking and counter-signing by physician
- Perform bone biopsies
- Identify and record pertinent progress of patients, update and summarize charts, change orders when appropriate and notify physician of changes in patient’ condition
- Ensure patient information, visit history, refer outs, lab follow-ups, phone calls and consults are carefully and completely documented in the electronic medical record
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements
- Current Physicians Assistant (PA) License
- Current DEA Certification
- Current CPR/ACLS certification
- Have good communication and customer service skills

- PharmServe, Pharmacy dispensing software
- MS Office Suite, MS Outlook and MS Excel
