Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers, Inc. (LADL) seeks Legal Secretaries for our Monterey Park, CA location who will provide clerical support to Law Firm Attorneys. Spanish speaker is preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- All required tasks must be physically completed in the office and/or firm.
- Legal Secretary must maintain good attendance to complete required tasks.
- Prepare proofs of service, pleadings, and correspondence at the direction of the attorneys.
- Retrieve and distribute office mail and faxes daily.
- Assist the law firm director and/or attorney supervisor in maintaining a master calendar for scheduled staff vacations and time-off requests.
- Communicate telephonically with clients as directed by the attorneys, including but not limited to translating. Direct telephone calls to the appropriate attorney or staff person.
- Maintain folders or files for each attorney containing required documentation from LADL executive offices, the Los Angeles Superior Court, or Judicial Council of California.
- Assist Attorneys via telephone or otherwise in retrieving case specific information form case management system.
- Assist attorneys with eFiling.
- Assist attorneys in completing detention paperwork, including but not limited to translating for the attorney if requested.
- Maintain adequate office supplies.
- Communicate with Executive Director regarding case management information and other requested system wide information deemed necessary by the Executive Director.
- Upload/scan documents into JCATS as requested by the attorneys
- Monitor JCATS for accuracy and provide JCATS reports to the Director and Executive Director when requested.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Three years in a law office setting performing administrative duties. Spanish speaker is preferred.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Physical Activities includes, but is not limited to: on a continuous basis, sit at a desk, intermittently twist and reach office equipment; write or use keyboard to communicate through written means; lifted up to 15 pounds, repetitive motion and typing when using computer keyboard, speaking to clients on the telephone.
