The Position Under the direction and supervision of the principal, the Senior Program Specialist Theatre Chair will oversee the daily operations of the Theatre Department. Candidates must be dedicated to increasing diversity in the student body and creating access to the program for students of color and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. The selected candidate will provide visionary leadership in the development and expansion of the Theatre program. They will develop curriculum, monitor budgets, hire, supervise, and evaluate non-credentialed teaching artists, communicate with parents, and collaborate with the other arts department chairs. They will create opportunities for students to present their work in LA communities and high-profile events, and to work with non-profit arts providers in developing programming, outreach, and recruiting “pipelines” for prospective LACHSA students. They will recruit and admit students representative of LA’s diverse populations, and foster a safe and inclusive culture among students and faculty.
Requirements / Qualifications
Experience Seven years or more of classroom experience teaching theatre and five or more years of professional work as an artist, with a CV (Curriculum Vitae) representative of the candidate’s level of achievement, arts teaching in an institutional setting with high-achieving arts students. Experience in developing educational theatre programs as well as directing and producing theatre productions, including technical theatre expertise, is desirable. Background in curriculum design, teaching, program administration, and evaluation is also preferred. Education Preferably a Masters Degree in Theatre or related field. License or certificate • Possess and maintain a valid Clear California Single Subject Theatre Teaching Credential with a Full English Learner authorization (CLAD, BCLAD, or equivalent)
