What You Will Do
The Manufacturing Manager position at Los Alamos National Laboratory is responsible for managing and maintaining safe, secure, and compliant work environments at facilities enabling efficient and effective mission execution. The Manager provides support to the Facility Operations Director (FOD) over areas of Operations and Management of facilities at TA-55.
The Manufacturing Manager authorizes and/or manages all facility operational activities including safety basis; health, safety and environmental management; security; quality assurance and work control; engineering; maintenance; and budgets.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2 Personnel Section, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities.
Desired Qualifications:
Ability to negotiate with customers or management, or attempting to influence senior-level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
In-depth knowledge of the Laboratory's organizational structure and objectives.¬
Work Location: The work location for this position is fully onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

- Expert knowledge of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, lock-out/tag-out and facility policies and procedures.
- Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience in Nuclear Operations and implementation of applicable regulatory requirements.
- Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience in conduct of operations and quality assurance programs.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing at all levels.
- Expert knowledge and proven experience in Facility Management, to include: Maintenance, Engineering, Safety Basis, Operations, Radiation Protection, Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene.
- Proven leadership and management ability. Understands and is committed to continuous improvement process and leadership principles. Ability to promote an open and informal communication environment, to develop mutual trust and teamwork, and to facilitate employee self-development.
- DOE Order 426.2 requires a minimum of a BS, and 4 years of nuclear experience.
