The Human Resources Labor Relations (HR-LR) Group is looking for a detail-oriented, highly motivated individual to join our team. The Employee Services Representative 1 will work closely with the LR team and Craft Management to manage the craft workforce for Los Alamos National Laboratory, including leading the weekly craft new hire orientation, all onboarding and post-hiring activities. Reviews and initiates processing life-cycle transactions, such as status changes, leave requests and separations for the LANL craft workforce, ensuring conformance to policy, process and current labor agreements. The selected candidate is expected to uphold high standards of customer service and professionalism while executing their work safely and securely and promoting collaboration and teamwork. This position acts as point of contact as an end-user on Craft Payroll and Oracle systems-related issues and personnel activity.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Business Acumen: Experience processing various actions necessary to support business needs and objectives while ensuring institutional consistency, data integrity and transactional excellence. Demonstrated ability to independently research, coordinate, develop and recommend solutions to problems.

Technical Expertise: Experience working within business computer systems and databases (i.e. Oracle, ServiceNow and/or other HRIS systems) including inputting and updating data, initiating transactions, and ensuring institutional consistency and data integrity. Experience using Microsoft Excel to run, export, and manipulate Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI) reports. Assist with system updates and testing.

Ethical Practice: Direct experience maintaining confidentiality and protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) throughout daily operations.

Planning and Prioritization: Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of assignments, adapt quickly to shifting priorities, meet strict deadlines, and multi-task in a detail-oriented and fast-paced environment.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with LANL organizational structure, HR policies, practices and procedures.

Work Environment:

Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2: Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular Position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
