SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated Public Safety Officer to join our Public Safety Department. Reporting to the VP, Patient Experience and Engagement, you will maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff within the hospital premises.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and patrol the facility to prevent and respond to incidents immediately
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures
- Assist in the vehicular transportation of elderly and handicapped patients to and from Loretto Hospital or other designated locations
- Monitor surveillance systems
- Conduct regular safety inspections,
- Control traffic inside and outside building
- Address any security concerns or emergencies promptly and effectively
- Investigate and report any unusual incidents and maintain a 24-hour log of all such incidents
- Perform related public safety duties as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Must have full working knowledge of security principles and practices
- Must have excellent communications skills
Preferred:
- PERC Card preferred
- One or more years of security guard/officer training or experience preferred
- Full working knowledge of hospital safety procedures preferred
- Basic knowledge of body mechanics and transportation procedures preferred
- Full working knowledge of city boundaries and locations preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk as well as occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Using proper body mechanics, the employee may be expected to lift, pull, push or move patients and/or equipment. Fine motor skills are required when using hands and fingers to handle, feel or reach. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and ability to speak are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, sharp eye focus and ability to distinguish colors. There will be periods of stressful intense concentration with more than average pressure used in a variety of problem-solving situations.
