About the Loren Hotels & Residences

The Loren is a collection of remarkable residences, hotels and restaurants that stand for something more — for culture, for beauty, for community and for conservation. The Loren at Pink Beach in Bermuda opened in 2017 as a masterpiece of modern architecture harmoniously integrated into the coastline. The Loren at Lady Bird Lake in Austin opened in 2023, bringing the brand’s design-forward philosophy to the edge of the city’s iconic waterway. C12 is actively expanding the portfolio, with new Loren developments underway.

Position Overview

C12 is seeking a Head of Technology to lead the firm’s technology and AI program at a pivotal moment in its growth. Reporting to the Head of Business Infrastructure & Finance and based in our Soho, New York office, this is a thought leadership role with end-to-end ownership of C12’s technology agenda — from strategy and investment decisions through execution, operations, and measurable business outcomes. The role spans data infrastructure, AI productivity tooling, systems implementation, financial modeling platforms, and the technology integration of new property acquisitions.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned technology leader who brings broad expertise across data infrastructure, systems implementation, and AI-assisted tooling — someone who proactively advises senior leadership on emerging technology opportunities, makes sound architectural decisions, directs developers and vendors with authority, and takes genuine ownership of a complex, multi-workstream technology agenda. They will oversee a developer, manage a mix of internal workstreams and external vendors, own the technology budget, and build and evolve the technology function as the firm scales.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive delivery of C12’s technology and AI program, maintaining a current view of project status, dependencies, and priorities across all active workstreams
  • Translate business needs into technology decisions, serving as the primary interface between senior leadership and technical resources
  • Manage a developer and coordinate external vendors, contractors, and systems providers — setting clear expectations, tracking accountability, and escalating blockers proactively
  • Build and maintain a forward-looking technology roadmap that sequences near-term delivery against longer-term infrastructure goals
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends — proactively advising senior leadership on opportunities to automate, improve decision-making, and strengthen the firm’s competitive position through technology
  • Recommend new applications and tools to streamline business processes and improve workflows across the firm, presenting clear business cases for technology investment

Data Infrastructure & Systems

  • Lead implementation of core hotel and financial systems, including PMS and accounting platforms, coordinating closely with property teams and third-party vendors
  • Drive financial books and records modernization, supporting the transition away from legacy tools toward scalable financial infrastructure
  • Oversee development of a linked data architecture spanning financial models, historical data, investor positions, and contact databases
  • Lead technology integration for new property acquisitions and openings, including systems onboarding and data connectivity

AI Productivity & Tooling

  • Establish and maintain the firm’s Claude usage structure, including governance, data access rules, and protocols for handling sensitive information
  • Lead development and deployment of AI-assisted tools across the firm, including investor reporting workflows, internal research tools, and document automation
  • Manage and evolve lightweight AI productivity tools already in use across the team, ensuring reliability, ownership, and appropriate update cadence
  • Identify and prioritize new AI productivity opportunities as the firm’s tool set and data infrastructure mature

Modeling & Analytics Platform

  • Oversee the conversion of Excel-based financial models to a Python-based production environment, directing the developer and ensuring delivery against a structured testing and sign-off process
  • Maintain the hybrid Excel-Python environment during transition, ensuring continuity for the finance team
  • Support delivery of a customer communications platform with hard delivery dates, coordinating across vendor, product, and operations stakeholders

Budget, Governance & Vendor Management

  • Own and prepare the technology operating and capital budget, including planning, tracking, and variance reporting across all technology spend
  • Build and present business cases for technology investments to senior leadership, clearly articulating costs, benefits, risks, and expected outcomes
  • Manage vendor contracts, service agreements, and third-party relationships — overseeing negotiation, scope definition, and ongoing performance against contractual obligations
  • Lead technology due diligence and systems integration for new property acquisitions and openings, ensuring seamless onboarding of technology infrastructure

Documentation & Continuity

  • Maintain clear, current documentation across all systems, processes, and technology configurations — ensuring the firm is never dependent on any single individual’s knowledge
  • Establish product lifecycle management for hardware and software, including planning for system upgrades, replacements, and end-of-life transitions
  • Ensure business continuity for all critical systems, with documented backup, recovery, and escalation procedures in place across the firm

Required Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience in technology leadership, with demonstrated end-to-end ownership of business-critical technology initiatives — including accountability for strategy, delivery, operations, budget, and measurable business outcomes
  • Technical literacy across software development, data infrastructure, and systems integration — sufficient to direct developers and vendors, evaluate technical proposals, and ask the right questions without needing to write the code
  • Proven ability to manage external vendors, contractors, and technical resources — setting clear accountability and driving delivery without direct technical authority
  • Experience with systems implementation in complex, multi-entity environments (ERP, PMS, accounting platforms, or similar)
  • Familiarity with AI tools and workflows, including practical experience deploying AI productivity tools in a business context
  • Strong project and program management skills: milestone tracking, dependency mapping, risk identification, and stakeholder reporting
  • Experience owning and managing a technology budget, including capital planning, vendor spend, and presenting investment decisions with supporting business cases
  • Experience with technology due diligence and integration in the context of acquisitions or new site openings
  • Clear, confident communicator — able to translate technical concepts for senior non-technical stakeholders and represent the technology agenda at the leadership level
  • Ability to travel internationally, including to property locations in Turks & Caicos, Bermuda, and Texas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in hospitality, real estate, private equity, or a similarly multi-entity operating environment
  • Familiarity with hotel property management systems (i.e., Opera/Symphony or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with Python or data engineering, even if not at a production developer level
  • Experience building or overseeing AI-assisted tooling using large language model APIs (e.g., Claude, OpenAI)
  • Background in financial systems modernization or books and records transitions
  • Experience hiring and managing offshore or distributed technical resources

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary $200,000-$250,000, commensurate with experience
  • Performance bonus
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k)
  • PTO and paid holidays
