Maintenance Technician | 3rd Shift | Sunday-Thursday 10 pm-6 am
Start Pay: $27-33/hr, DOE
Lopez Foods is currently searching for a full-time maintenance technician to join our growing team in Cherokee, Iowa!
The perfect candidate will have experience with maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, adjusting and preforming preventative maintenance repairs as well as installing equipment within and around the facility to keep the production operational and have zero loss of production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must have thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings, sketches, O.E.M. instructions and specifications.
- Must be able to perform but not limited to the following skills and have a thorough understanding of: Ability to read and understand schematics and wiring diagrams, electrical system layouts, electrical code, conduit routing, bending and the operation of manual, electric and hydraulic benders, wiring devices, Arc Flash and 70E regulations, basic industrial electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to quickly prioritize service calls in order to minimize downtime.
- Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel, whether individually or in a team environment, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with operations in order to assist with repairs and troubleshooting.
- Willing to work overtime as needed.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- This position requires an organized individual, who is self-motivated and can work independently to perform assigned tasks efficiently with minimum supervision.
- High School Diploma/GED, Required
- Previous maintenance experience, preferred
- Basic knowledge of computers
- Electrical experience, Required
- Basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance fundamentals where applicable.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and blueprints; in industrial settings, ladder logic and PLC basics are often requested.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment
- Experience with CMMS and digital work order systems
- Perform various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, stick/arc) to repair broken machinery and piping
- Operate metal fabrication machinery such as power saws, shears, brakes, drill presses.
- Fabricate and assemble custom metal parts.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in cold, hot and humid environments, -40 to 100 degree temperatures
- Must not be afraid of heights
- Must be highly safety conscious
- Ability to lift in-excess of 50lbs
- Must be able to stand or be on feet for up to 10 hours a day
- Will be required to perform continuous and repetitive motion, including, but not limited to: lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting and reaching
- Must have the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Occasional weekend work, as needed
