About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Logistics Specialist to manage domestic and international freight operations for a well-established purchasing and engineering company focused on supplying manufactured components and supply-chain services for machinery, automotive, electronics, and industrial equipment companies across Europe and the United States.
This is an in-office role reporting directly to the Director of Operations and offers visibility and ownership within the logistics function. Position offers competitive benefits.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate and manage the movement of goods between suppliers, sister companies, and customers
- Handle domestic freight bidding and negotiate transportation rates with carriers and logistics providers
- Track and coordinate freight shipments through third-party logistics (3PL) providers
- Maintain communication with logistics partners, suppliers, and customers to ensure timely delivery and issue resolution
- Manage ocean freight operations, including shipment scheduling and documentation
- Support customs clearance processes, tariffs, and compliance requirements
- Monitor shipment status and proactively address transportation delays or supply chain disruptions
- Perform forward planning to support inventory flow and customer delivery requirements
- Maintain accurate logistics and shipment records within internal systems
What We're Looking For
- 5 years of logistics experience
- Fluency in German required
- Experience with domestic freight coordination and trucking bid processes
- Knowledge of freight terminology and transportation operations
- Experience managing ocean freight shipments
- Familiarity with customs clearance procedures, tariffs, and compliance requirements
- Ability to work independently and operate effectively within a lean team environment
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
