Job Summary
We seek a dedicated and enthusiastic Thrift Store Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for sorting and staging inventory and donations and maintaining store organization. The ideal candidate will have a passion for thrift store culture, brands, and organizations and will help customers find unique items while promoting a positive shopping experience.
Duties
This position will assist the Thrift Store Manager
Tuesday - Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Responsible for sorting and staging donations and inventory in our thrift store.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for managing the back room and clothing staging donations:
Manage the intake of all clothing, shoes, and jewelry
Sort and organize items and place them in the appropriate staging areas for sale
Distinguish between brands for categorizing items
Sort items into an appropriate system in the back room
Use the dryer on items that don’t require pressing
Steam or press and hang clothing items
Maintain fire codes in spaces
Maintain the sorting and hanging on the rolling racks
Appropriate storage and labeling of seasonal items
Maintain a workflow to keep the store stocked with shoes, jewelry, and all appropriate size items.
Check the sales floor throughout the day for restocking
Collect and store hangers from the sales desk
Manage and coordinate boutique items
Friendly interaction with customers and volunteers
Sort and organize items and place them in the appropriate staging areas for sales
Oversee staging for donations in the proper areas, such as shoes, jewelry, clothing
Assist and guide volunteers who show up to assist in the backroom
Take all accumulated trash from the area before trash pick-up days
Opening and closing checklist to be established with the manager
Vacuum the floor weekly and clean the surrounding areas
Clear empty totes and any other storage items in the walkway that could be a hazard
Maintain attic space for holidays and seasonal overflow
The overall organization of designated spaces
Experience
- Previous experience in retail
- Knowledge of brands
- Familiarity of the value of items
- Sales reporting is beneficial
- Strong organizational skills is s must
- Task driven
