Longwood University is seeking candidates for a full-time lectureship in English (F0175), to begin August 2026. Teaching responsibility is fifteen credits per semester, including courses in freshman composition and potential assignments to other courses of need. Class size is 18 students for composition sections. Candidates must have an advanced degree (MA, MFA, ABD, PhD) and experience, training, or coursework in composition pedagogy. Preference given to those with ability to teach literature as well.
This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus.

The Department of English and Modern Languages has a mission to serve our students by helping them improve as writers, speakers, and citizens. We do so through a diverse array of offerings in English that include literature, children's literature, professional writing, and creative writing. Candidates must have an advanced degree (MA, MFA, ABD, PhD) in English and experience, training, or coursework in composition pedagogy. Applicants should demonstrate collaboration skills, the ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, and a commitment to undergraduate teaching. Eligibility to work in the United States at time of appointment and for the duration of the annual contract is required.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, instructional faculty position. Salary will be $52,015. A successful fingerprint-based criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
