Civil Engineer – Land Development / Subdivision Design
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer or Civil Designer to join our team and assist with the design, development, and construction oversight of residential subdivision projects, along with select commercial and other site-development projects.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and be capable of independently developing complete subdivision construction plans. Compensation will be competitive and dependent upon experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Work with our engineering and design teams to design and manage residential subdivision and site-development projects.
- Prepare complete construction plans including roadway layouts and profiles, grading and drainage plans, stormwater systems, sanitary sewer, water distribution, and related infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain Civil 3D surfaces, alignments, profiles, pipe networks, corridors, grading models, and other project design components.
- Coordinate projects from initial concept and preliminary design through construction documents and permitting.
- Conduct site investigations, field reviews, and construction inspections as needed.
- Review field conditions, survey information, and other project data and incorporate findings into the design.
- Assist with construction administration and resolution of field issues during construction.
- Coordinate closely with office personnel, surveyors, contractors, municipalities, utility providers, and clients.
- Help ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable design standards and regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
- High proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is required. Candidates should be able to efficiently use Civil 3D to develop complete subdivision and site-development designs, including streets, grading, drainage, utilities, and associated construction plans.
- Experience designing residential subdivisions and/or land-development projects is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of grading, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water distribution, roadway design, and general site-development principles.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively within a project team.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required but is considered a significant plus.
