Overview
Join our team as an Equipment Operator/Laborer and play a vital role in executing construction projects with precision and safety. This energetic position offers the opportunity to operate a variety of heavy machinery, including excavators, loaders, dump trucks, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest safety standards. You’ll be instrumental in maintaining construction equipment, performing utility locating, and leading a small crew in the construction of wireless communications and utility sites. This position requires someone with the ability to lead others and train less experienced employees. This position requires multi tasks including equipment operation, placing rebar, pouring concrete, laying conduit. A small crew builds and entire site . We work throughout the North East and many times requires overnight travel. Company paid lodging, and a generous meal allowance in addition to your pay. This is a great opportunity for the right person with ambition and a safe, positive attitude to carve out his on place and work independently. We will train in all areas of our work but candidates must be a proficient operator with multiple size excavators from minis to 80K lbs. CDL A very Desirable. Year round full time work
Responsibilities
- Operate a range of construction machinery such as excavators, loaders, dump trucks, water trucks, to perform excavation, grading, paving, and utility work.
- When required tie rebar, pour concrete, lay conduit
- Conduct routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal safety and performance, following all federal construction safety regulations and safety procedures.
- Assist with construction site setup, including site grading and utility locating to ensure accurate placement of utilities and infrastructure.
- Drive commercial trucks for transporting materials, equipment, or debris around the job site or between locations while adhering to commercial driving regulations.
- Support construction utility work by installing or repairing underground utilities.
- Follow all safety regulations diligently, including equipment safety procedures and federal safety standards, to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and team members.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to coordinate daily tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Experience
- Previous experience operating heavy construction machinery such as excavators (including Caterpillar models), loaders, dump trucks, water trucks, or similar equipment is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction utilities work, excavation processes, grading techniques, paving operations, and general construction site experience.
- Familiarity with mechanical maintenance of construction machinery to troubleshoot issues promptly.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with experience in commercial truck driving preferred; knowledge of transportation regulations is essential.
- Understanding of federal construction safety regulations and adherence to safety protocols on active job sites.
- Construction experience involving utility locating techniques and underground utility installation or repair is advantageous.
- Ability to operate horizontal drilling equipment or tanker trucks is a plus; strong mechanical knowledge will support your success in this role.
