Security/Night Watchman

Long Island Aquarium/Hyatt Place East End/Treasure Cove Resort Marina is looking for security professionals that possess superior customer service skills as they are a prerequisite for employment. Long Island Aquarium/Hyatt Place East End/Treasure Cove Resort Marina will be providing on-site security and compliance services.

The Long Island Aquarium is hiring an overnight security and safety staffer for our entire facility. Providing general security and patrol duties, monitoring equipment, and reporting suspicious or hazardous situations.

Scope: The night watchman will perform general security functions for all buildings, grounds on the property. This will include but not limited to walking tours of buildings and/or grounds and parking lots. Checking on pumps and equipment at Aquarium walking the floors and lobby adjacent Hotels and Marina security tours on the docks.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical strength and endurance to participate in the following activities when necessary.
• Standing, walking, climbing stairs 60-80% of the shift.

General Responsibilities:

• Follow Routine check list.
• Ensuring that all Aquarium machines and pumps are running.
• Monitoring alarm panels (fire/alarm, aquarium pumps).
• Patrol facilities, grounds, parking lots, hotels, marina docks and other areas on property to check for safety and security hazards, reporting all findings.
• Secure/lockdown and access facilities as assigned.
• Assist on evening event nights as needed.
• Respond to emergency calls to include but not limited to the following: Fire and general security alarms.
• Back up assistance for other staff within guidelines of department policies and procedures.
• Assist medical emergencies and ambulance/rescue calls.
• Call local police assistance in matters requiring their presence.
• Respond to general calls for service to access and/or lock buildings.
• Provide walking escort as necessary for staff.
• Monitor some locations by cameras.
• Such other duties as may be assigned or directed.

• Maintain a high level of personal appearance and grooming.
• A uniform must be worn while on duty. (Security shirts)
• Job Type: Part-time and Full-time positions available. Overnight weekend availability is required.

Experience:

• Experience as a security guard or in a similar position would be ideal; however, not required.
• Ability to perform basic computer functions including log records, perform calculations, and communicate with others via phone and email.
• A can-do attitude and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others.
• Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to provide excellent support to customers or partner within company.
• Must have excellent verbal communication skills and must be able to communicate with colleagues via phone and email.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
