About the Role:

The Accounting Manager  is responsible for the company's financial plans and policies, accounting practices, maintenance of financial records, and preparation of financial and management reports. The Assistant Controller analyzes and interprets financial data and recommends improvements to systems and economic performance. This role plays a critical part in the preparation of financial statements, audits, budgeting, and day-to-day financial activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. 

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the activities of the Accounting Department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and monthly external financial statements, and related financial reports and annual audits.
• Oversee Financial Statement Preparation and the monthly review process with the corporate officers.
• Oversee the activities of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, employee expense reports, and cash control.
• Oversee and recommend changes to credit card approval and coding processes as necessary.
• Oversee and review the activities of the payroll function, process and journal entry.
• Ensure payroll, tax compliance, and 401k and benefit plan remittances are accurately and timely processed.
• Review bi-weekly sales commission data from Salesforce and prepare commission amounts for every payroll.
• Calculate monthly and quarterly bonuses using Salesforce and Sage data and prepare for inclusion in payroll. 
• Oversee the activities of the accounts receivable function to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components, including billings and the cash receipts application. 

Qualifications:

• Financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Proficiency with accounting software including system administration.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Skilled in reading, writing, and understanding documents, including instructions and safety rules.
• Experienced in presenting to groups.
• Able to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions; and solve problems with clear, step-by-step solutions.

Education/Experience: 

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university. 
• 3 years of accounting experience.

The required skills such as bank reconciliation and general ledger management are essential for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring that all transactions are properly accounted for. Proficiency in accounting systems allows the Accounting Manager to streamline processes and improve efficiency within the team. Job costing and cost accounting skills are utilized to analyze project profitability and inform strategic decisions. Strong knowledge of accounting principles ensures compliance with regulations and standards, which is critical for financial reporting. Additionally, leadership and mentoring skills are important for developing the accounting team and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
