Long Beach Marina is looking for a Full-Time Dock Master with boating knowledge, great people and leadership skills to join our team! We have a great supporting staff and are an active marina with a tropical feel in Middle River, MD.

Join our dynamic team as a full-time Dock Master, where you'll be at the forefront of operations. This energetic role offers the opportunity to oversee daily dock activities and overall marina management. As a key leader in operations, you'll manage maritime safety procedures, supervise staff, and uphold our high standards to deliver exceptional service and operational excellence. Your expertise will help maintain a safe, efficient, and customer-focused environment that drives our mission forward.

The Dock Master is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the marina docks, ensuring safe vessel movements, exceptional guest service, and efficient slip management. This role oversees dock staff, coordinates vessel arrivals and departures, coordination of transient slips, maintains docks and marina facilities, and serves as the primary point of contact for slip holders and visiting boaters.

The Dockmaster plays a critical leadership role in maintaining marina safety, operational standards, and customer satisfaction while supporting overall marina operations.

Qualifications

  • Previous marina, boating, or waterfront operations experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of docking procedures and vessel handling
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
  • Weekend availibility during peak season

Dock Operations

  • Fuel Pier– Safely assist fueling of vessels, proper operation of point of sales equipment
  • Coordinate vessel arrivals, departures, and slip assignments while assisting with safe docking and maneuvering
  • Monitor dock activity and conditions to maintain safety and efficiency within the marina

Yard Operations

  • Assist with haul out, blocking, and setting boat stands
  • Assist with spring launches, stacking and storage of blocks and stands
  • Cleanliness of marina, bathrooms, trash cans, and overall property

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily light, administrative work with occasional heavy lifting (up to 70 lbs.) and frequent moderate lifting (20-50- lbs.)

Vessel Operations & Safety

  • Assisting boating traffic: guiding vessels into slips assisting with securing lines properly
  • Weather Monitoring: Relaying safety announcements, and managing emergency protocols
  • Rule Enforcement: Ensuring that marina safety, environmental, and facility regulations are strictly followed by all boaters and visitors

Customer Service

  • Serve as the primary contact for slip holders, transient boaters, and marina guests
  • Address customer inquiries or concerns while promoting marina services and amenities.
  • Check-ins and Reservations: greeting guests, verifying boat reservations, assigning slips, and handling transient vessel requests
  • Dispute Resolution: Helping to mediate conflicts between slip renters, boaters, or staff in a diplomatic and professional manner

Administration & Staff Management

  • Staff Leadership: Supervising, scheduling (filling in when needed), and training junior dock staff, attendants, and maintenance crews to ensure smooth daily dock operations. Train staff on docking procedures, safety practices, and customer service expectations
  • Inventory & Office Work: Ordering dock supplies, managing inventory, and communicating with regional managers or corporate offices

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce marina policies and safety regulations across docks and facilities.
  • Monitor weather conditions and respond to emergencies or safety incidents as needed.

Maintenance Oversight

  • Conduct routine inspections of docks, utilities, and marina infrastructure.
  • Coordinate minor repairs and report maintenance issues to marina management.
  • Services: Monitoring the fuel dock, managing pump-out stations, and ensuring adequate supply levels are kept.
  • Cleanliness: Overseeing the general upkeep of the harbor, ensuring that marina buildings, showers, and public spaces are neat and presentable.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
