Long Beach Community College District is currently seeking one full-time tenure track Biology Instructor commencing with the Fall 2026 semester. The primary teaching assignment involves teaching non-majors Contemporary Biology (both lecture and laboratory) in the Life Science Department. These courses cover the general principles of Biology, such as molecular biology, organic evolution, taxonomy, diversity of species, basic physiology and anatomy of body systems, genetic continuity, and ecology. The instructor may also teach other Life Science courses including plant biology, environmental biology, and field biology. This assignment also includes curriculum development, participation in the shared governance process through work in normal professional activities, committee work, and student activities. The teaching assignment may be at the Liberal Arts campus, the Trade, Technical and Community Learning campus or other college teaching locations. The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, online or off campus and is subject to change as needed. Faculty positions offer the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. Master’s in any biological scienceOR

All candidates must demonstrate:
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience teaching any of the following Biology courses: Biology for Majors, Biology for non-majors, Plant Biology, Environmental Science, or Human Biology
- At least two year of recent experience teaching Biology at the community college or university level.
- Evidence of an ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Experience developing new curriculum for instruction.
- Evidence of an ability to use a variety of teaching strategies that encourage retention while successfully challenging diverse student populations.
- Evidence and understanding and/or experience working with Student Learning Outcomes and their assessment.
- Desire and demonstrated ability to participate actively in department, division, and college committees and in the shared governance of Long Beach City College.
- Commitment to the Mission and Strategic Objectives of the two-year college.
- Ability to teach at the Liberal Arts Campus (LAC) and/or the Trade, Technology, and Community Learning (TTC) campus
Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate valid California Driver’s License.
