Gap Attendant

General Definition:

• Remains present at the entrance of the racetrack and records names of every horse and trainer reporting for a workout. Records distance, the starting point and finishing points of the workout, and report this information to the appropriate Clocker.

Essential Job Functions:       

• Remains present at the entrance of the racetrack and records names of every horse and trainer reporting for a workout. Records distance, the starting point and finishing points of the workout, and report this information to the appropriate Clocker.
• Reports any exercise rider or trainer who refuses to supply required information to the Stewards.
• Provide support to the receiving barn, stall office, and paddock to sustain racing operation.
• Ensures the horses are assembled in their correct stalls.
• All other duties as assigned by management.

Education:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 1 years related experience and/or training; or combination.

• Must be knowledgeable of the Rules of Racing.
• Responsible for fostering a fun environment.
• Responsible for being gracious to all guests and co-workers.
• Responsible for promoting a positive influence in the community and participating in company-sponsored events.
• Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
•  Ensures that behavior and appearance are in compliance with established standards.
• Maintains a professional work environment with management and staff
• Able to work at a fast pace in often crowded/noisy environment
• Excellent customer service/communication skills
• Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy.
• Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read and communicate verbally in English.
• Written communication skills in English may also be required.

Training:       

• 1 year work related experience and/or training; or combination.

Licenses/Certifications/Other: 

• Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency, if applicable to perform the essential job functions
• Texas Racing Commission License (TXRC)
